Position Summary
Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Programme Officer will oversee the development of programmes and seek out grants to fund the projects and activities related to programmes. In addition, the PO will oversee projects, manage budgets, and develop proposals, aligning programmes activities with the overall mission of BAOBAB for Women’s Human Rights.
S/he will build and maintain partnerships and relationships that interact with other organizations. This could include non-profits private sector actors, or federal agencies and assist with expanding services, raise funds, and educate the public about the organisation's work.
Responsibilities
Programme developement and management
-
Manage all aspects of programme development, including project design and management, implementation and daily management of activities according to grant requirements and project workplans.

Provide administrative and project support, in addition to communication efforts related to programme management and execution.

Write quarterly and annual reports, with input from other colleagues. o Coordinate and /or assist in the production of the organization’s quarterly newsletter and monthly summary.

Identify and solicit potential participants and develop agendas, logistics and summaries.

Update and maintain programme files and programme participants’ contacts for monitoring and evaluation and activities internal reporting.

Research, write and edit time-sensitive programme documents and budgets, political updates, blogs and publications, activity reports, funding proposals, and training materials.

Disseminate the results of research and other activities.

Work with other programme staff to monitor and evaluate the performance of the programme activities, identifying successes and failures and recommending programme adjustments accordingly.
Cultivate relationships with critical stakeholders and other organisations

Assist with the development of strategic partnerships - form relationships and communicate with political parties, civil society organizations, relevant government officials, local partners, and members of the diplomatic and donor community, and represent the organisation at public functions as requested.

Establish and maintain regular communication with project partners and other stakeholders.

Liaise with funders upon request and assist with new business development efforts as assigned.

Foster peer-to-peer learning in network through conference calls, newsletters, facilitation of conferences.

Attend external meetings as requested and approved.

Assist with ongoing marketing of organization including but not limited to speaking engagements, in collaboration with the Communications Officer.
Oversee funds and budgets
-
As required, collaborate with financial staff to ensure compliance with grant requirements.

Create budgets for project costs and programme expenditures.

Work closely with financial personnel to develop, maintain and ensure adherence to budgets.

Provide efficient and timely action on administrative and financial matters, particularly in the submission of financial reports.
Assist with the strategic development of the organization

Identify opportunities for new programme development and expansion.

Analyse, research, and be familiar with the region's political and economic landscape, identifying opportunities for BAOBAB programmes and partners.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or as responsibilities dictate
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or HND in social sciences related course.

Minimum of Five years relevant programme officer experience.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of the internet and good general computer skills.

Good computer skills in common word processing (MS Word) spreadsheet (MS Excel) and power point.

Ability to prioritize and organize tasks, work to strict deadlines.

Team player and self-starter.
-
Flexible and able to embrace change positively.

High sense of confidentiality.
